APOLLO Essentials is a low cost way of being able to catalogue and deliver geospatial data over the web. Essentials-SDI is the scalable spatial data infrastructure that enables this, while Essentials Image Web Server allows the user to provide the fastest raster delivery over the web, utilising the ECWP image streaming protocol.
The Image Web Server technology was acquired as part of the ER Mapper acquisition undertaken by ERDAS in 2007. The market leading ability to deliver gigabytes of geographical imagery data has seen Image Web Server adopted globally by organisations who want a simple low cost solution to a massive geo-data problem.
The products strength lies in its simplicity and ability to run on very modest servers even with many concurrent users wanting to stream or access the data via the new WMS tiling capability that IWS can offer.
By taking advantage of the .ecw and jpeg2000 data format the IWS can deliver imagery data globally in seconds either into a web client or GIS client to support projects in ARC GIS, MapInfo, AutoCAD Map or Cadcorp.
