ERDAS Overview

ERDAS has been supplying image processing software since 1978. Their flagship desktop package, ERDAS IMAGINE, led the way in image processing and raster data handling. Over time this software has evolved from command line prompt to the ribbon interface in the latest version. Along the way, much additional functionality has been added that enables the user to extract geospatial information from the raw satellite or aerial imagery.

Other products have been incorporated into the product suite over time. LPS is a complete suite of photogrammetric production tools while ERDAS ER Mapper complements the image processing functionality of ERDAS IMAGINE.

ERDAS have also developed an enterprise suite, based on strategic acquisitions of ER Mapper, Aquis and Red Spider. These are now elements in the ERDAS APOLLO range of data management, delivery and collaboration enterprise spatial data infrastructure solution.

Now that Hexagon, ERDAS’ parent company, has acquired Intergraph®, ERDAS and Intergraph are now a unified business and ERDAS enhances Intergraph’s geospatial capability.
