ERDAS ER Mapper

Process and output geospatial imagery more quickly
ERDAS ER Mapper allows the user to process geospatial imagery quickly and easily and output the data using advanced compression capabilities.

ER Mapper was originally focused on the Oil and Gas market, and along with its core image processing capabilities, it also provides 2D and 3D visualisation techniques.

Key to ER Mapper is the algorithm concept, which allows real time display of image processing. This allows the user to apply histogram look up tables, spatial filtering, arithmetic functions and even sun shading and see the result in real time in the viewer. The user can then interactively tweak the algorithm to produce the desired result. This saves both disk space, as nothing is automatically written to disk, and time, as the user doesn’t have to wait for individual processing runs before moving on to the next iteration. The algorithm created can then be saved as a small text file, allowing the processing steps to be saved and then applied again later to the same of different dataset.

Elements of the algorithm concept are now included in ERDAS IMAGINE, and this functionality will be incorporated in a major way with the 2012 release.

While IMAGINE will be the main line of development of ERDAS desktop image processing products in the future, ER Mapper will continue to be supported as a separate product for the foreseeable future.
